Pupil absenceby kstock
10 November 2009
Dear Parents, Re: Child Protection and Security Issues.
Please could we remind parents of the importance of informing the school on the first day of absence when your child is ill or unable to attend school for any reason. We will be contacting parents of children who are absent if we have not been informed of the reason. To help us in the administration of this please could you inform the office of your child’s absence by 9.15 a.m. on the first day of absence. If you know your child is going to be away from school for a period of time i.e. hospital appointment, holiday, dentist etc. please could you inform your child’s class teacher in writing before the planned event.
The school’s Education Social Worker, Mrs. Annette Faulkener will be auditing any child whose attendance falls below 80%.
We would also respectfully remind you of the difficulties caused when taking a holiday during term time. The school is set attendance targets by both the Welsh Assembly government and the LEA and holiday absence is now included in our absence figures. Thank you for your co-operation and support.
Yours sincerely,
John MacLennan Headteacher.
